Job Description: As a Sports Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our sports curriculum and promoting a positive and inclusive sports culture within the school. Working closely with our Physical Education department, you will assist in organizing and leading sports activities, helping to inspire and motivate students to develop their skills and confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of PE lessons and extracurricular sports clubs, under the guidance of qualified teaching staff.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students during sports activities, offering encouragement, guidance, and technical assistance as needed.
  • Helping to organize and oversee sports events and competitions, both within the school and with external partners, ensuring they run smoothly and safely.
  • Supporting the maintenance of sports equipment and facilities, ensuring they are clean, safe, and accessible for students.
  • Acting as a positive role model for students, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for others both on and off the sports field.
  • Contributing to the overall pastoral care and well-being of students, building positive relationships and providing support as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people in a sports coaching or teaching assistant role, ideally within a school or community setting.
  • A passion for sports and physical activity, with a good understanding of a range of sports and the ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Relevant sports coaching qualifications or willingness to undertake training as required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
