I am recruiting alongside a number of mainstream secondary schools in Bristol for energetic and motivated Sports Specialists and Coaches to work as LSAs/ TAs

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a sports, coaching or fitness background to transition into education and support students both in the classroom and within on‑site SEN and inclusion provisions.


You will be working within mainstream secondary schools, supporting students across:

  • Classroom environments
  • On-site SEN hubs and resource bases
  • Inclusion units and alternative provision spaces
  • Students with additional needs or at risk of disengagement

Many of the students you support may have:

  • Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Behavioural challenges or difficulty regulating emotions
  • Barriers to engagement with learning

Your background in sport will be key in helping students to:

  • Build confidence, resilience and teamwork skills
  • Develop positive routines and behaviour
  • Channel energy in a structured and productive way
  • Re‑engage with education through movement, activity and strong relationships

As a Sports Coach / LSA / TA, you will:

  • Support students within lessons, small groups and 1:1 settings
  • Use sports-based approaches to engage and motivate learners
  • Build strong, positive relationships and act as a role model
  • Support behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Assist teachers with classroom delivery and student support
  • Deliver or support structured physical or intervention activities
  • Work within SEN hubs, inclusion units or alternative provision spaces
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams
  • Monitor student engagement and provide feedback

  • Sports coaches, PE assistants or fitness professionals
  • Graduates in Sport, Coaching, Physical Education or similar
  • Individuals with experience working with young people in clubs, camps or teams
  • Those interested in moving into education, teaching or pastoral roles
  • Individuals with a passion for mentoring and supporting vulnerable learners

  • Experience working with young people (schools, clubs or community settings)
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confident, proactive and able to manage behaviour positively
  • Resilient, adaptable and team-oriented approach
  • Understanding of safeguarding (training can be provided)
  • Enhanced Child-Only DBS (or willingness to apply)
  • Coaching badges or relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential
