I am recruiting Sports Qualified Behaviour Support Assistants to work within mainstream secondary schools across Central and South Bristol.

This role is ideal for individuals from a sports, coaching, fitness or PE background who are looking to use their skills to support young people within education.

Many of the students you'll work with respond positively to adults who can build respect through consistency, teamwork and strong relationships. Your ability to motivate, encourage and positively challenge young people could make a lasting difference to their experience of school.

As a Sports Qualified Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support students both in and out of the classroom
  • Build positive relationships with young people who may struggle to engage with education
  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and small-group support
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Support students with their confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Help students develop strategies for managing behaviour and emotions
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and SENCOs
  • Encourage participation, engagement and positive decision-making
  • Act as a strong role model throughout the school day

You may work with students who:

  • Are disengaged from learning
  • Struggle with behaviour or emotional regulation
  • Have SEMH needs
  • Have ADHD or Autism
  • Need support building confidence and resilience
  • Are at risk of exclusion or poor attendance
  • Benefit from structured support and positive relationships

The role requires someone who can remain calm, patient and consistent while working with a broad range of personalities and needs.

We're particularly interested in hearing from:

  • Sports Coaches
  • PE Coaches
  • Fitness Instructors
  • Personal Trainers
  • Sports Science Graduates
  • PE Graduates
  • Youth Coaches
  • Team Leaders within Sports Clubs
  • Activity Leaders
  • Community Sports Workers

If you've spent time motivating, mentoring and developing young people through sport, many of your skills transfer directly into education.

We're seeking people who are:

✔ Confident working with teenagers

✔ Strong relationship-builders

✔ Resilient and patient

✔ Comfortable supporting challenging behaviour

✔ Positive role models

✔ Adaptable and proactive

✔ Team players who can work alongside school staff

✔ Passionate about helping young people succeed

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Coaching, mentoring or leadership experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to support a range of behaviour and additional needs
  • A calm and professional approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Use your coaching skills in a rewarding educational setting
  • Help young people develop confidence, resilience and self-belief
  • Gain valuable experience in behaviour, SEND and pastoral support
  • Work within supportive secondary schools
  • Access ongoing CPD and development opportunities
  • Long-term opportunities with potential for permanent roles
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout

If you're passionate about supporting young people and want to use your sports background to make a difference in education, I'd love to hear from you.
