We are currently seeking a passionate Sports Coach to join a Social, Emotional, Mental Health alternative education provision, where you'll play a crucial role in promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and personal development through sports activities.

 As a Sports Coach within this SEMH provision, you will have the opportunity to work closely with students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, providing engaging and inclusive sports sessions tailored to their needs and abilities. Your role will involve planning and delivering sports sessions, creating a positive and inclusive environment, promoting resilience, self-confidence, and social skills through sports activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver sports sessions, taking into account the diverse needs and abilities of students with SEMH needs, including anxiety, depression, and related challenges.
  • Deliver sports activities that are engaging, enjoyable, and accessible to all students, adapting coaching techniques and activities as necessary.
  • Create a positive and inclusive environment where students feel empowered to participate and succeed in sports activities, fostering teamwork and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate sports activities into the academic curriculum, supporting the inclusion group and helping students achieve their academic goals.
  • Adapt coaching strategies to accommodate individual student needs and promote physical and emotional well-being, while also monitoring progress and participation.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to identify and address the specific social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students, using sports as a platform for personal development.
  • Promote a culture of sportsmanship, respect, and fair play among students, fostering positive relationships and a sense of belonging within the SEMH provision.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience planning and delivering sports sessions, preferably within an educational or youth development setting.
  • Strong understanding of the social, emotional, and mental health needs of students, with the ability to adapt coaching strategies accordingly.
  • Relevant coaching qualifications and certifications are desirable but not essential.
