Sports Coach

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with specialist schools in the Preston and surrounding areas, as they are looking to hire a sports coach to further engage and develop their pupil’s enjoyment of physical activity and development.

The role

As a sports coach you will need to have a relevant sport qualification, and experience working with pupils aged between 11-16 years. The schools have small class sizes varying between to 6-10 pupils per class. First aid training for this role is desirable, you will have to ensure a professional but engaging learning environment throughout, whilst following all health and safety procedures and behavioural policies set by the school. You will be required to work on a full-time basis, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:00 pm, although this is a sport coach role you will need to be dressed appropriately for the role and be professional throughout your time on school grounds. Within this role, there may be elements of general classroom support on your timetable. The school has a focus on building meaningful relationships with all pupils to create a respectful and safe environment for all, this means you will need to be able to form these relationships easily with both staff and pupils, engaging in all activities as a part of school life.

To be successful, you must:

  • Be available full-time (8.30am-3.00pm)
  • Have a sports coach background/ sporting experience
  • Have experience supporting children/ young adults with additional needs

The school

This school is a specialist school based in Preston catering for pupils aged between 4-16 covering KS1, 2, 3 and 4. It has had a re-focus recently to try and engage their pupils in taking part and enjoying physical education. The school caters for children with additional needs including SEMH and ASC, who require further support in the learning and development. The school’s vision is to work together to provide a caring and supportive environment to meet and celebrate the diverse abilities and needs of all their pupils, enabling them to fulfil their personal, social, moral, and academic potential. All pupils at the school do have an Educational Health Care Plan and the school also works closely with other agencies to further support each of their pupils to their best ability.
