Are you passionate about sport, physical education, and supporting young people? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Sport and PE Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you will play an important role in encouraging students to participate in physical activity, develop their skills, and build confidence. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for sport who wants to make a positive difference to students' physical, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive PE lessons and sporting activities.
- Assist with practical PE sessions across a range of sports and activities, supporting students to develop their skills and confidence.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students who may require additional encouragement or assistance during PE lessons.
- Encourage students to participate positively in physical activity and develop a healthy and active lifestyle.
- Support students across a range of abilities, adapting activities and encouragement where appropriate.
- Help promote teamwork, communication, resilience, discipline, and good sportsmanship among students.
- Assist with the preparation, organisation, and safe use of PE equipment and resources.
- Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment during PE lessons and sporting activities.
Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and positive attitudes towards physical activity. - Provide appropriate pastoral and emotional support to students, helping to promote their wellbeing and engagement.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for sport, physical education, and supporting children's development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
- The ability to encourage and motivate students of different ages and abilities,
- The ability to promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm and supportive environment.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions effectively.
- A commitment to inclusion and ensuring all students have the opportunity to participate and succeed.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
