We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a newly established Specialist Resource Base (SRB) within a primary school in central Cardiff.

This specialist provision will offer a nurturing and inclusive environment for pupils with complex needs, ensuring every child and their family feels valued and supported. The SRB will provide a tailored, highly differentiated curriculum using specialist strategies to help pupils thrive.

The school is an inner-city setting serving a diverse and sometimes challenging community. It takes pride in its relational approach, with a strong focus on building positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.

  • Support high-quality teaching for pupils with complex additional learning needs
  • Use specialist strategies to support communication, sensory needs, and emotional regulation

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience or knowledge of specialist approaches (e.g. Makaton, Total Communication)
  • Has a strong understanding of child development and additional learning needs
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Is patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children with additional needs

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
