Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and resilient individuals to join our team as SEN / ALN Teaching Assistants across a variety of secondary schools and specialist provisions in Carmarthenshire.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), helping them overcome barriers to learning, build independence, and thrive both academically and personally within a structured and supportive environment.


As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
  • Assisting teachers in implementing personalised learning plans
  • Supporting students’ emotional regulation, engagement, and behaviour
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, promoting confidence and independence
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Supporting with personal care where required

You’ll work with students with a wide range of Additional Learning Needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Complex medical needs (including specialist care settings)

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference. You will ideally have:

  • An Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • EWC registration (or willingness to register)
  • Experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to different school environments and student needs
