Special Needs Assistant

Contract: Full time, temporary position working Monday – Friday; 8:30am – 3:30pm.

Pay: £12.90 per hour 

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a dedicated support staff on behalf of a Primary specialist provision. The headteachers boasts about the secure, happy environment they offer to staff and pupils. You will need to have a real desire in creating opportunities for children to develop their abilities to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will have experience working with young people/adults with additional needs as the school are looking for someone to grow their children physically, mentally, and socially.

This role will work specifically with children in KS2. The pupils who attend this provision have additional needs and therefore a nurturing approach must be adopted. This may present as a challenge as you will need to create strategies enabling the children to cope with high pressure situations.

Responsibilities and duties:

Provide a safe environment for children to learn and build confidence

Support emotional regulation and manage behaviour

Follow individual behaviour plans to support pupils

Enthusiastic and creative

Offer extra support; 1:1 or small group

Patient and nurturing

Build trusting relationships with children and staff

Differentiate approach to meet pupil’s individual needs

Communicate clearly between pupils and staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
