We are currently working in partnership with a SEN School in NG10 to recruit a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist team.

The School is a highly supportive specialist provision for pupils aged 2-19 with a wide range of needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism, communication needs, sensory impairments, and complex physical or medical needs.

The school provides a nurturing, inclusive environment where every pupil is valued as an individual and supported to develop communication, independence, and overall wellbeing-key drivers embedded across all learning.

The school delivers a highly personalised curriculum through specialist pathways designed to meet each child's needs, including:

  • Sensory-based and multi-sensory learning approaches
  • Communication-focused teaching (verbal, visual, and alternative communication methods)
  • Development of independence and life skills for adulthood
  • Social, emotional, and physical development at the core of learning
  • Real-world and community-based learning experiences

Pupils follow tailored pathways (such as Discover, Explore, Nurture, and Aspire), ensuring learning is adapted to their level of need, from sensory engagement through to more structured subject-based learning.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex and diverse needs to access learning, build independence, and develop communication skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils in a highly personalised, multi-sensory learning environment
  • Assisting with communication strategies (e.g. visual aids, PECS, Makaton where required)
  • Promoting independence, life skills, and engagement in learning
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour approaches
  • Providing personal care and physical support where needed
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families
  • Supporting learning both in the classroom and through community-based activities

  • Experience working with SEN, particularly SLD, Autism, or complex needs
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners
  • Confidence supporting non-verbal communication and sensory needs
  • A strong understandin
