Special Educational Needs Teacher

Join our team at Teaching Personnel, a leading provider of educational staffing solutions, as we partner with a reputable Special Educational Needs provision in Salford specialising in supporting students with Autism and Complex Learning Difficulties. We are currently recruiting a passionate and fully qualified teacher to fill a rewarding position at the provision. Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to students with a range of SEN needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and sensory processing disorders.
  • Collaborate with support staff and SENCO to ensure lessons are tailored to meet the individual needs and abilities of students, incorporating sensory activities into planning where appropriate.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate in learning activities.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to effectively engage students with diverse learning needs, adapting approaches as necessary to accommodate individual preferences and abilities.
  • Implement behavior management techniques and strategies to support students in regulating emotions and managing challenging behaviors, working collaboratively with support staff to provide a consistent approach.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to facilitate academic and personal development.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/carers and external professionals, sharing updates on student progress and working collaboratively to support student success.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, participating in meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with students with SEN needs, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of different SEN profiles and strategies for supporting students with diverse needs, including autism, ADHD, and sensory processing disorders.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons, incorporating sensory activities into planning where appropriate.
  • Resilience, patience, and empathy when working with students who may display challenging behaviors or have complex needs.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and the ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students can thrive.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) is required for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
