Although September still feels a little way off, many SEND and SEMH schools across East Sussex are already planning staffing for the new academic year.

I'm currently working with a range of specialist schools who are looking to identify strong Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants early, giving both schools and candidates the opportunity to find the right fit before September arrives.

Depending on the school, opportunities may involve:

  • Classroom support
  • 1:1 support
  • Behaviour support
  • Small group interventions
  • Supporting emotional regulation
  • Working alongside teachers and therapists

Every school is different, but the common theme is helping young people access education and experience success.

Schools consistently tell me they're looking for people who:

  • Build trust and rapport
  • Remain patient and resilient
  • Can bring structure and consistency
  • Work well within a team
  • Have a genuine desire to help young people succeed

Experience is helpful, but attitude often matters just as much.

September opportunities often begin moving before the summer holidays.

Registering now gives you:

  • Access to more vacancies
  • Greater choice of schools
  • Time to complete compliance comfortably
  • Better visibility of long-term opportunities
  • September 2026 starts
  • East Sussex locations
  • £92.60 per day
  • Full-time opportunities available
  • Child-only enhanced DBS on the Update Service required

Apply today and let's start discussing your September options.
