SEND Teaching Assistant - Chester

Salary: £95 - £105 per day

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Chester is looking to appoint a skilled and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated specialist support team.

The successful candidate will work within a Resource Provision setting, supporting a pupil with additional needs and helping them to access learning, develop independence and engage positively with school life.

The school is looking for someone with strong experience of working with children with SEND, who can adapt their communication and support to suit individual needs.

About the Role

Working alongside the class teacher and wider SEND team, you will:

• Provide dedicated support to a pupil within a specialist Resource Provision
• Adapt learning activities and communication to meet individual needs
• Support the pupil's educational, social and emotional development
• Encourage independence, confidence and engagement
• Help create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment
• Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals
• Support communication and interaction throughout the school day
• Contribute to a positive and nurturing classroom environment
• Follow individual support plans and contribute to pupil progress

What We're Looking For

The school would particularly welcome applications from Teaching Assistants with experience in areas such as:

• SEND and additional learning needs
• Autism / ASD
• Speech, language and communication needs
• Deaf awareness and communication support
• Sensory processing needs
• One-to-one and specialist intervention
• Resource Provision or specialist school experience
• Makaton, PECS, visual communication or other communication approaches

British Sign Language (BSL) experience would be particularly valuable for this specific position. Candidates with Level 2 BSL plus relevant experience, or Level 3 BSL, are encouraged to apply.
