Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term Time Only)

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a welcoming primary school in Durham, starting in September.

This is a highly rewarding role, ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a real difference to their educational journey.


As an SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Support the pupil’s academic progress as well as their social and emotional development
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
  • Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence within the classroom
  • Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working in a UK school or similar setting
  • Have experience supporting children with SEND (essential for this role)
  • Be patient, nurturing, and resilient in challenging situations
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to supporting individual needs
  • Be reliable and able to commit to a full-time, term-time position
