SEND Teaching Assistant - Resource Provision - Ellesmere Port

Location: Ellesmere Port
Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only
Contract: Fixed-term initially, with potential to become permanent
Salary: £93 - 105 p.d. dependent on experience

A forward-thinking and inclusive primary school in the Ellesmere Port area is looking to appoint a caring and motivated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their growing specialist provision team.

This rewarding role will involve supporting pupils with additional needs, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), within a dedicated Resource Provision setting. The school is seeking someone who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping children achieve their full potential in a supportive and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will become part of a welcoming and collaborative team committed to creating engaging learning experiences tailored to individual pupil needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support for pupils with additional learning needs within the Resource Provision
  • Work closely with class teachers and the wider SEND team to deliver personalised support
  • Help create a calm, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support children's communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Adapt activities and learning approaches to meet individual EHCP targets
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASD
  • A positive, proactive, and flexible approach to supporting learning
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build trusting relationships with children
  • A calm and nurturing manner
  • Experience within a school or specialist provision setting desirable
  • Knowledge of strategies such as Makaton or Speech and Language support beneficial but not essential
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification desirable
