SEND Teaching Assistant – Blackburn Role
length: Temp to perm, starting September 2026
Pay rate: £14.25–£16.00 per hour

A mainstream primary school in Blackburn is seeking a committed and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temp‑to‑perm basis from September 2026. This role is based within the school’s dedicated resource provision, supporting pupils with ASC and helping them access learning in a structured, nurturing environment.
You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to provide tailored support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition. Your role will involve:
Delivering targeted 1:1 and small‑group support
Implementing personalised learning strategies and behaviour plans
Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
Helping pupils engage positively with classroom activities
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
Creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
The ideal candidate will bring:
Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly ASC
A calm, patient, and proactive approach
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
The ability to follow structured plans while using initiative

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
