SEND Secondary Tutor - Yeovil and Surrounding Areas

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, patient and experienced SEND Secondary Tutor to provide one-to-one educational support to young people across Yeovil and the surrounding areas.
We have been approved to support young people accessing Alternative Provision and are looking for tutors who can provide personalised, engaging and flexible learning for secondary-aged pupils who may have SEND and/or SEMH needs.
The role will involve building a positive and trusting relationship with the student, adapting learning to meet their individual needs and helping them develop their confidence, engagement and progress. You may be supporting young people who have struggled to engage with a traditional school environment and who require a calm, consistent and encouraging approach.
We are looking for tutors who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and who can create a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.
The role may involve
- Delivering one-to-one tuition to secondary-aged students
- Providing support across a range of subjects, depending on your experience and subject specialism
- Supporting students with a range of SEND and/or SEMH needs
- Planning engaging, accessible and personalised learning activities
- Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
- Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students
- Helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
- Supporting young people who may have experienced barriers to accessing mainstream education
- Helping students re-engage with education in a positive and meaningful way
- Supporting students with their academic, social and emotional development where appropriate
- Supporting students to work towards their individual educational goals and, where appropriate, qualifications
- Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
- Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
- Maintaining clear and professional communication
- Following safeguarding procedures at all times
Essential requirements
- Experience working with secondary-aged young people in an educational, tutoring or support setting
- Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
- Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised support is desirable
- A good understanding of how to adapt learning to meet individual needs
- Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
- A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
- The ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people
- A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their potential
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
- Satisfactory professional references
- You must have the right to work in the UK
