SEND Education Roles

I'm currently recruiting for a range of roles within SEND and SEMH schools across East Sussex, and I'm looking to speak with both experienced specialist educators and people interested in moving into the sector.

I work with schools across Hastings, Battle, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes and surrounding areas, supporting a real mix of specialist settings.

That means I'm not trying to recruit everyone for the same vacancy.

Some schools need experienced SEND Teachers. Others are looking for Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants or Behaviour Mentors. Some are happy to consider people without previous school experience if they have the right transferable skills and attitude.

The important thing is working out where you would actually fit.

There are opportunities across both primary and secondary specialist settings.

Having worked in SEND myself before moving into recruitment, I don't think there's much point pretending it's always easy.

It isn't.

There will be difficult days. Pupils may struggle to regulate, engagement can fluctuate and sometimes you'll put a lot of work into something without seeing an immediate result.

That's part of the job.

But it's also why the right people can have such an impact.

Schools need adults who are calm, consistent, patient and able to build genuine relationships with young people. You need to be able to maintain boundaries without making everything a battle and adapt when your first approach doesn't work.

Previous SEND experience is valuable, but it isn't essential for every position.

I've worked with candidates coming from mainstream education, care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring and other backgrounds who have gone on to do brilliantly in specialist schools.

My background before recruitment was directly within SEND education, so I know how different one specialist setting can be from another.

I'll want to understand what you've done before, what you're comfortable with, where you're based and what type of environment you're looking for.

From there, we can look at the schools and opportunities that actually make sense for you.
