Position: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Tutor

Location: Haywards Heath 

PAY: £25- £30 P/H

Contract Type: Part-time, Permanent

Are you an experienced and dedicated tutor with a passion for supporting students with mental health difficulties and additional needs? We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic SEN Tutor to join our team and make a positive impact on our students' learning and wellbeing.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an SEN Tutor to provide tailored, 1-1 or small group tutoring sessions to students who find the school curriculum challenging. As a tutor, you will have a good understanding of the importance of individualised learning and be able to identify and utilise strategies that work best for each student. You will work closely with students, parents, and other school professionals to monitor progress and implement necessary adjustments to ensure positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver effective 1-1 or small group tutoring sessions, tailored to the individual or group's needs.
  • Identify and address areas of difficulty for students, adjusting lesson plans accordingly. Recognise and develop students' strengths when appropriate.
  • Regularly communicate with students, parents, and other school professionals to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies to support students' progress and emotional wellbeing.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (on the update service) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Previous experience working within the SEN sector, specifically with students with mental health difficulties and/or additional needs. Experience working with Autism would also be beneficial.
  • Experience in supporting students' positive mental wellbeing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive and effective rapport with students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in making a positive impact on students' lives.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
