Academics Rochester is recruiting caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants to work in supportive primary schools across South East London. We have a range of temporary, long-term and permanent opportunities available, supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties and physical disabilities.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant or 1:1 Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support for pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.

  • Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and complex learning needs.

  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.

  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.

  • Delivering small group and individual interventions.

  • Assisting teachers in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Every child is unique, and you will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their goals.

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs is desirable.

  • A caring, patient and understanding approach.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing.
