SEN Teaching Assistant – Ruislip

Location: Ruislip area

Contract: Full-time
Pay: £85–£115 per day (dependent on experience)

Supply Desk are currently seeking a compassionate, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in the Ruislip area. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff to provide individualised and targeted support, helping pupils access the curriculum, develop their confidence and make meaningful progress both academically and personally.

We are looking for someone who is nurturing, adaptable and committed, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and create a calm and supportive environment where every child feels valued, included and encouraged to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs
  • Support pupils with needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating positively in classroom activities
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, supporting their confidence, self-esteem and independence
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development
  • Monitor pupil progress, engagement and wellbeing and share observations with teachers and SENCOs
  • Adapt support strategies and learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
  • Encourage pupils to participate fully in learning and develop greater independence
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external professionals
  • ·         Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

Role Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs is preferred
  • Understanding of a range of SEN needs and effective support strategies
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach to positive behaviour management
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting children and young people
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding

Previous experience working within a primary or secondary school is desirable
