A well-regarded specialist school in Southampton is seeking committed Teaching Assistants to support students aged 11–16 with Autism and a range of neurodivergent needs. While this role is classroom-based with a great deal of hands on and interactive activities.

Set within large school  grounds, the school offers small class sizes, personalised learning and opportunities for outdoor exploration. Staff work collaboratively to create a positive, structured environment where every child can thrive.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with Autism and additional needs such as ADHD, SEMH and other developmental challenges. You’ll work closely with teachers to help students access learning, develop independence and build confidence. The role includes both one-to-one support and small-group work within the classroom.

We’re Looking For Candidates Who:

• Have experience supporting those with additional needs in a care environment
• Are happy to work in a hands on way
• Are confident working in a classroom environment
• Work effectively as part of a team
• Are patient, adaptable and responsive to individual pupil needs
• Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2 – desirable but not essential)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with Autism and related needs
• Assist with classroom routines and learning activities
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement
• Support small group sessions and individual interventions
• Contribute to the wider life of the school community
