Sen Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants to work within a specialist SEMH school situated north of Norwich. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support children and young people who have experienced challenges in mainstream education and require a more personalised approach to learning and emotional development.

Driving is essential

You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, as the school location may not be easily accessible by public transport and there may be occasions where travel is required.

• Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs both inside and outside the classroom
• Building positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued, and understood
• Assisting with personalised learning programmes across a range of subjects
• Encouraging emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour strategies
• Supporting pupils during times of dysregulation using calm, consistent approaches
• Helping to create a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment
• Contributing to pupils' personal, social, and emotional development alongside their academic progress

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional support requirements
• Is patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
• Understands the importance of consistency, boundaries, and relationship-based support
• Has strong communication and behaviour management skills
• Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to helping every pupil succeed
• Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Our partner SEMH school, located north of Norwich, provides tailored educational pathways for children and young people who may have struggled within mainstream education settings.
