Are you a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated SEN TA to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you'll provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs and help them develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals.
- Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and learning needs.
- Assist teachers with planning and delivering engaging, inclusive learning activities.
- Support pupils with their EHCP targets and individual learning plans where required.
- Encourage pupils' confidence, independence, communication, and social development.
- Use appropriate strategies to manage behaviour and promote positive behaviour within the classroom.
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, support staff, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Monitor and provide feedback on pupils' progress and engagement.
- Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable; however, candidates with relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
- A patient, caring, and supportive approach to working with pupils.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A good understanding of SEN and inclusive learning practices.
- Excellent teamwork and classroom support skills.
- A commitment to supporting pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
