Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Kirkby area that is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September 2026.

This is a rewarding long-term opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. The role will involve providing targeted support on a 1:1 basis and within small groups, helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential within a nurturing classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Support children with a range of SEND requirements, including:
    • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
    • ADHD
    • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
    • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
    • Behavioural and emotional challenges
  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver personalised learning activities.
  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets and intervention strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Promote pupil independence, engagement and confidence.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SEN colleagues.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or educational setting.
  • Be confident supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SLCN, SEMH, or behavioural needs.
  • Have experience delivering 1:1 support and small-group interventions.
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Be patient, resilient and passionate about making a difference to children's lives.
  • Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant educational qualification (desirable).
  • Work effectively as part of a team while also using their own initiative.
