SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Salford from September 2026.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional learning and developmental needs, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will play a key role in ensuring all pupils can access learning opportunities and make positive progress.

You may support pupils with:

• Additional learning needs
• Communication and interaction difficulties
• Social, emotional, and mental health needs
• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Physical or sensory needs
• Moderate to complex learning difficulties

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
• Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning and activities.
• Support the delivery of tailored learning interventions.
• Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and wider school staff.
• Monitor and record pupil progress where required.
• Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support personal care needs where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
• Is patient, caring, and passionate about supporting pupils to succeed.
• Understands the importance of inclusive education.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is adaptable and able to respond to individual pupil needs.
• Holds a relevant qualification in education, childcare, health and social care, or a related field (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
