Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting young people on the autism spectrum? Would you like to help students flourish in a secondary school environment?

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Salford for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to secure a permanent role within the school.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students, providing personalised support to help them engage with learning, develop social skills, and reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will support students both within the classroom and through targeted interventions, assisting those with a variety of additional needs.

 

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students on the autism spectrum.
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and actively participating in lessons.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to promote academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Implement strategies and support plans in accordance with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals.
  • Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Foster a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on students’ progress and wellbeing.
  • Proven experience supporting students with SEN, particularly those with autism.
  • Experience within a secondary school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum conditions and effective support strategies.
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour and promoting positive outcomes.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
