Sen Teaching Assistant

Location: BB3
Contract: Full-time / Term-time (with potential for permanent)
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist SEN setting in the BB3 area. This role involves working closely with children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASD), learning difficulties, ADHD, SEMH needs, and communication challenges.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access education, engage with learning, and develop independence in a supportive and inclusive environment.

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs
• Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities in line with EHCPs
• Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs and abilities.
• Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural development, promoting confidence and independence
• Implement behaviour management strategies and encourage positive engagement in learning
• Support pupils with communication needs, using visual aids, structured routines, or alternative communication methods
• Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and safety at all times
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to support each child's development
• Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment

We are looking for someone who is:

• Patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs
• Experienced working with SEN pupils (school, care, or youth setting desirable)
• Confident in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner
• A strong communicator with the ability to build trusting relationships
• Flexible and adaptable to meet the diverse needs of pupils
• A team player who can work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary setting

• Experience within an SEN school or specialist provision
• Knowledge of EHCPs, autism strategies, or SEMH support
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Care qualification)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
