About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming and inclusive nursery setting. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, where you will be working closely with children, including those with special educational needs such as ASD and ADHD, to provide tailored 1:1 support and ensure they reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children with ASD, ADHD, and other SEN, and will have a strong ability to provide 1:1 support. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to implement personalised strategies that enhance the children's learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for children with ASD and ADHD, adapting strategies to meet individual needs
  • Support children in developing social, emotional, and behavioural skills
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering personalised learning activities to support SEN children’s academic and developmental progress
  • Help to create a calm, structured, and supportive environment that meets the needs of each child
  • Collaborate closely with the SENCo, teachers, and external professionals to monitor, assess, and review progress
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour for children with ADHD
  • Assist with general classroom management and ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Encourage children’s independence, helping them to develop self-regulation skills and confidence in their learning

Requirements

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Strong experience working 1:1 with children with ASD and ADHD, particularly within a nursery or early years setting
  • Ability to implement individualised learning and behaviour management plans
  • Understanding of how to support children with emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently
  • A positive and proactive approach to supporting children’s learning and development
