A warm, supportive SEN school in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time after the Easter holidays. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive in a structured, nurturing environment.

As an SEN TA, you will support pupils across the school with a range of needs, including ASD, SEMH, MLD, and other complex learning requirements. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team to create a positive learning environment where every child can make progress socially, emotionally, and academically.

  • Support the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities that meet each pupil’s individual needs.
  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with diverse SEN profiles.
  • Assist with implementing EHCP targets and recording pupil progress.
  • Help establish a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Use positive behaviour support strategies in line with the school’s approach.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
  • Promote communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing in all interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other staff members.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or similar settings).
  • Patience, resilience, and a passion for inclusive education.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior staff.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
  • A welcoming and supportive team environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
