Are you a passionate, dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant looking to support a child who needs consistency, patience and a calm, compassionate presence? We're recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Halewood (L25) for a full‑time SEN Teaching Assistant to work one‑to‑one with a non‑verbal pupil from September.

The Role

As the school's 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support a non‑verbal primary-aged child with communication, routine and emotional regulation
  • Implement personalised learning and communication strategies (e.g. PECS, visuals, sensory tools)
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to adapt activities and promote progress
  • Create a safe, predictable and encouraging learning environment
  • Build a trusting, positive relationship with the child
  • Support with social interaction and life-skills development

You will be a key person in helping this pupil access the curriculum and feel fully included in school life.

  • Strong behaviour support and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with pupils
  • Confidence using communication aids, visual timetables or sensory strategies
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new approaches
  • Reliability, consistency, and a genuine passion for helping children thrive

Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA, SEN training, autism training) are desirable but not essential.
