Teaching Personnel is expanding its dedicated SEND support team across primary schools in Washington and Durham, and we’re looking for compassionate, committed individuals to join us for the new academic year.

Whether you’re seeking full‑time stability, part‑time balance, or flexible day‑to‑day work, we have roles to suit your lifestyle and experience.

 

  • Provide tailored 1:1 or small‑group support to pupils with a range of SEND needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.

  • Assist class teachers across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 to deliver inclusive, engaging learning experiences.

  • Implement personalised support plans and behaviour strategies.

  • Help create a positive, nurturing classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.

  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social development.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent, high‑quality support.

 

  • Experience working with children or young people (school‑based or otherwise).

  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.

  • Patience, resilience, and a caring, proactive approach.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to adapt to different school environments and pupil needs.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, SEND training) are beneficial but not essential—we welcome transferable skills and provide training.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
