Specialist Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a reputable Special Educational Needs provision in Nantwhich (CW8). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is energetic, compassionate, and committed to making a positive impact on the lives of students with additional needs, including Autism and Complex Learning Difficulties. As a Support Assistant, you will work closely with students in 1:1 and small group settings, providing guidance and support through practical activities such as cooking, gardening, art, music, and basic English and maths.

The college prides itself on its dynamic curriculum, which focuses on developing practical life skills and employability. The school's ethos is centred around explorative learning, and as a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in encouraging and assisting students to reach their full potential. The provision is small, with a high student-staff ratio, and each student's Educational Healthcare Plan targets are the driving force behind their personalised curriculum.

We are looking for someone who is dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, collaborating with teachers and other support staff to achieve this goal. As a Support Assistant, you will also provide assistance with daily living activities and personal care, as needed.

Previous experience working with students with Autism and complex learning difficulties would be desirable, but not essential. What is crucial is a passion for supporting individuals with SEN needs and a commitment to making a difference in their lives.

This role is open to a wide range of backgrounds, including those with experience in healthcare, childcare, education, or recent graduates in fields such as psychology, speech and language, and sociology. Suitable references and a DBS certificate (or eligibility to apply for one) are necessary for this role.
