SEN Teaching Assistant – Swinton (M27)

We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a primary SEN school located in Swinton (M27). As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with complex medical needs, providing them with the care, assistance, and encouragement they need to thrive in their educational journey. This will involve:

  • Providing one-on-one support to pupils with complex medical needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assisting with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting, and medication administration.
  • Implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and support strategies designed to meet the unique needs of each pupil.
  • Facilitating communication and interaction between pupils, teachers, and other support staff.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals, including nurses and therapists, to implement specialised care plans.
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all pupils feel supported and valued.

Candidates for this role should be prepared to work with pupils who may have a variety of complex medical needs, including but not limited to:

  • Physical disabilities requiring assistance with mobility and positioning.
  • Gastrostomy (PEG) feeding, including the administration of feeds and monitoring of nutritional intake.
  • Epilepsy management, including recognising and responding to seizures.
  • Respiratory conditions requiring the use of oxygen therapy or ventilator support.
  • Sensory impairments impacting communication and/or interaction.

This school are specifically seeking individuals with the following expertise. These are not essential for this role, but would be incredibly beneficial for your application.

  • Experience and/or training in Moving & Handling techniques.
  • Proficiency in PEG-feeding techniques.
  • Certification in Team Teach or similar behaviour management training.
  • Familiarity with Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) or other augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods.
  • Previous experience in support work, particularly in educational or healthcare settings

This is a full-time, long-term role with opportunities for professional development and career progression. The successful TA will receive a competitive daily rate starting from £83, paid on timesheets through PAYE. This includes NO umbrella company or agency fees – you will be paid directly through Teaching Personnel.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
