We are currently working on behalf of Specialist schools in Darlington, Bedale and Ripon who are looking for passionate SEN Teaching Assistants!

The schools support pupils with various needs – Including those with Autism, Mental Health Issues and Medical requirements. The schools offer personalised learning opportunities in order to support students in both an academic, social, and emotional capacity. In this Specialist setting, lessons are focused mainly on building self-confidence and helping students to develop a love for learning!

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Small Group mentoring: As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to work with pupils 1-2-1 and in small groups  
  • Feedback: Work alongside colleagues and parents/carers to provide feedback on progress and development.
  • Create engaging activities: Activities that are in alignment with the interests of each child.
  • De-escalate challenging behaviour: Use holistic techniques and implement unique learning strategies for students.

Minimum requirements:

  • Experience in a school or care setting is preferred but certainly not required.
  • Knowledge of how to support those with SEN, Mental Health Difficulties and Medical requirements.
  • It is desirable that you have completed at least one of the following CPD. Qualifications, though it is not essential: Moving & Handling, Team Teach.

Important Information:

  • This is a full-time role (Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 3:30) however those available on a part-time basis are encouraged to apply, as there are plenty of similar jobs available on a part time basis.
  • Pay is dependent on experience but will be between £80 – £100 per day.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
