Sensory Teaching Assistant needed in Longsight

Teaching Personnel are working with an Ofsted Outstanding Secondary School based in the heart of Trafford who are looking for an experienced SEN support worker or Teaching Assistant who has experience working with children with sensory impairments.

Ideally the successful applicant would be able to start in April. It is an open vacancy, and after a successful probation period, there is the opportunity to progress onto a school-based contract.

Applicants need to have experience in delivering specialist support to individuals (ideally children) with impairments to be considered for this role. The specific Sensory Impairments involved in this role include:

-          Visual impairment

-          Hearing impairment

Location wise, the role is perfect for applicants who would like an easy commute. The school is based in Sale and is extremely close to various tram and bus stops that travel in and out of Trafford and Manchester City Centre. The school also has an onsite car park for members of staff who choose to use a vehicle.

-          Pay of this role varies between £85 - £95 per day (based on 6.5 hour working day) - higher rate of pay available depending on experience

To succeed in this role, you will need to be an extremely positive and patient person, who can remain calm and firm when presented with difficult behaviour or emotional situations. It is essential that candidates have experience working with SEN students, and additionally it would be beneficial to have some experience supporting at least one individual who has hearing or visual impairments. Previous experience working in sensory rooms with sensory toys and equipment would be beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
