(SEN) Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Various schools in Islington

Do you have experience and a passion for supporting students with additional needs?

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join us in various  Islington schools. 

Your Role:

  • Work one-on-one or with small groups of students with additional needs.
  • Support teachers in creating inclusive and supportive classrooms.
  • Assist in making individual learning plans and behaviour plans.
  • Customize learning materials for each student.
  • Keep track of students' progress and report any concerns or successes.
  • Help students with their learning, social skills, and well-being.
  • Encourage good behaviour and step in when needed.
  • Provide personal care support if necessary.

Requirements:

  • Experience in special needs support, ideally in UK schools.
  • Understanding of various special needs and how to help.
  • Knowledge of UK special education laws, like the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and complete required training.
  • A background check (DBS) or a willingness to get one.
  • Relevant qualifications like a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate are a plus.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
