SEN Teaching Assistant

At Teaching Personnel, we are working closely with a Primary School in the Enfield area that has asked us to recruit a 1:1/learning support assistant. The roles will be supporting the needs of a particular child in year 4 with some SEN needs as well as supporting other SEND children with emotional regulation. The positions will begin immediately and the schools have indicated that they will move into a permanent position with them for the right candidate after a period of review.

What does it take to be a 1:1 Teaching Assistant?

  • Passion for education
  • Patience and understanding
  • No formal educational qualifications necessary - however experience of SEN needs is essential.
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate available on the Update service (Teaching Personnel can assist)

Job role:

  • Reading or explaining tasks to the child, understanding, and supporting their needs and keeping them focused on their tasks.
  • Manage challenging behaviours.
  • Support the teacher to maintain learning and help children access the curriculum.
  • Assisting in other classes in certain times
  • Being adaptable, reliable and hard-workin
