  • Provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a classroom setting
  • Assist the teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN
  • Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff and other professionals to meet the specific needs of students
  • Adapt teaching materials and strategies to accommodate the unique learning styles and abilities of students with SEN
  • Assist with behaviour management and intervention strategies
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN
  • Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and achievements
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and any concerns
  • Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Special Educational Needs)
  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs
  • Knowledge of relevant SEN legislation and policies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding

Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Special Educational Needs)

Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs

  • Familiarity with SEN legislation and policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding
  • Higher-level qualification in Special Educational Needs or related field
  • Additional training in behaviour management or intervention strategies
  • First Aid certification

The SEN Teaching Assistant will primarily work in a classroom setting within a school environment. The role may involve assisting students with physical disabilities or challenging behaviours. The work schedule is Full-Time, with regular school hours. The assistant may need to attend meetings or training sessions outside of regular hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
