About the Role
Are you a passionate, dedicated, and experienced SEN Teacher looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a committed SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you will play a key role in providing high-quality education and support to students with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of students with SEND.
- Adapt teaching strategies, resources, and activities to ensure all students can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress.
- Develop positive and trusting relationships with students, creating a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Support students with a range of special educational needs, which may include Autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, communication needs, and other additional needs.
- Set clear learning objectives and use appropriate assessment strategies to monitor and track students' progress.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure students receive consistent and effective support.
- Develop and contribute to Individual Education Plans and other relevant support plans where required.
- • Provide appropriate pastoral and emotional support, helping students develop confidence, independence, resilience, and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Promote positive behaviour through effective classroom management and appropriate behaviour support strategies.
- Communicate regularly with parents, carers, colleagues, and other professionals regarding students' progress, development, and wellbeing.
- Support students during wider school activities, trips, break times, and other school initiatives where required.
- Ensure safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and school policies are followed at all times.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEND.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of different special educational needs and appropriate teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting students.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to promote positive behaviour.
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A commitment to inclusion and ensuring every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
