About the Role:

Supply Desk are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive school in the Rickmansworth area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging and accessible lessons, adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of pupils and supporting their academic, social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that are appropriate for secondary-aged pupils with additional needs.
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.
  • Establish a positive, structured and inclusive learning environment where pupils feel safe and confident.
  • Set appropriate learning goals and monitor pupil progress in line with EHCP targets.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, parents and other professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and independence throughout the school day.
  • Use a range of creative teaching methods and resources to encourage participation and maximise learning.
  • Support pupils in developing the skills, confidence and independence they need for their future education and beyond.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent).
  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils with SEN.
  • A strong understanding of EHCPs, individual learning needs and differentiated teaching.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
  • The ability to build strong and positive relationships with pupils.
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
