Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed Specialist SEN Teacher to support students across the Bury St Edmunds area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who require additional support, guidance, and understanding to reach their full potential.

As a Specialist SEN Teacher, you will work with students who exhibit a range of challenging behaviours, often linked to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism, or other additional learning requirements. Your role will be centred around creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment where students can re-engage with education and experience success.

You will:

  • Build trusting relationships with students and act as a positive role model.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to support positive outcomes and encourage engagement.
  • Help students develop emotional regulation, social skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Foster a calm, nurturing learning environment where students feel understood, respected, and valued.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
  • Celebrate progress, no matter how small, and encourage students to believe in their own abilities.

At Teaching Personnel, we recognise the life-changing impact that dedicated SEN professionals have on young people's futures. We are committed to supporting our teachers every step of the way.

We offer:

  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Flexible opportunities including long-term, short-term, and permanent positions.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • A supportive network of SEN and SEMH professionals.
  • The opportunity to have a meaningful impact on students who need it most.
  • The chance to help young people build confidence, develop positive behaviours, and achieve their personal goals.

We are keen to hear from teachers who:

  • Hold relevant teaching qualifications (ECTs, NQTs, and experienced teachers are all encouraged to apply).
  • Have experience working with students displaying challenging behaviours, SEMH needs, or additional learning requirements.
  • Are calm, patient, and resilient in their approach.
  • Have strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Are passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them succeed.
  • Can adapt their teaching style to meet a range of complex needs.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own transport, as travel across the local area may be required.

Every day brings an opportunity to change a life. If you're passionate about helping young people overcome challenges, re-engage with learning, and achieve success both inside and outside of the classroom, we'd love to hear from you.
