A rewarding opportunity has become available for a dedicated and resilient Class Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Street, Somerset from September 2026, with the possibility of an earlier start for the right individual.

This full-time position would suit an educator who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional learning needs and who thrives within a nurturing, highly personalised environment.

The provision supports pupils with a range of complex profiles including autism, SEMH needs, communication difficulties, trauma-related presentations and associated learning differences.

Staff work collaboratively to create a calm, structured and engaging atmosphere where pupils can feel secure, valued and motivated to achieve.

 

The successful candidate will deliver tailored lessons that meet the varying academic, emotional and developmental needs of learners across the setting.

You will adapt learning materials, implement positive behaviour approaches and encourage pupils to build confidence both inside and outside of the classroom.

• Planning and delivering differentiated lessons suited to individual EHCP outcomes

• Creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment

• Supporting emotional regulation and social development

• Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists and external professionals

• Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records

• Building strong relationships with families and multidisciplinary teams

• Promoting independence, resilience and engagement in learning

This role requires someone who is patient, adaptable and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to education.

Applicants may come from mainstream or specialist backgrounds, although experience supporting children or young people with SEN is highly advantageous.

The school is particularly interested in individuals who can build trust, remain calm under pressure and bring creativity into their teaching practice.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS preferred)

• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

• Experience adapting lessons for pupils working below age-related expectations

• A genuine passion for inclusive education

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

• Confidence supporting pupils with autism and SEMH needs
