Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Oldham. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity working with pupils across primary and secondary age groups within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The school provides specialist support for children and young people aged 4–19 with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). It offers a tailored alternative to mainstream education, with a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, inclusion, and preparing pupils for independence and adulthood.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to pupils with complex needs. You will plan engaging lessons tailored to individual learning styles, while working closely with support staff, therapists, and families.

You will create a calm, structured, and supportive environment where pupils can develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering personalised lessons aligned with EHCP targets
• Differentiating learning to meet sensory, communication, and developmental needs
• Leading and supporting classroom staff, including teaching assistants
• Using specialist strategies such as PECS, AAC, visual schedules, and sensory approaches
• Implementing Team Teach strategies to support positive behaviour and safe de-escalation
• Monitoring and assessing pupil progress
• Supporting pupils during periods of emotional dysregulation
• Promoting independence, social development, and emotional regulation
• Working collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience or strong interest in working with pupils with ASC and SLCN
• Strong behaviour management skills and understanding of positive handling approaches
• A patient, resilient, and proactive attitude
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

• Previous experience in a specialist or SEN setting
• Team Teach training (essential) or willingness to obtain
• Knowledge of EHCPs and personalised learning
• Experience using communication and sensory support strategies
