A rewarding opportunity has become available for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational provision in Sherborne on a full-time permanent basis from September 2026.

This role is ideally suited to somebody who thrives in a nurturing environment, understands the complexities of additional needs and is committed to helping young people achieve their full potential.

We are seeking an individual with proven SEN experience who can confidently begin supporting learners from the very start of the academic year.

 

You will become an important part of a dedicated team focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for pupils with a variety of educational and developmental needs.

  • Provide structured one-to-one and small-group support
  • Help create a safe and positive learning atmosphere
  • Foster confidence, communication and independence
  • Assist with educational activities and interventions
  • Encourage participation and engagement across the curriculum
  • Work closely with colleagues to meet individual learning objectives
  • Previous experience supporting learners with SEND
  • Knowledge of autism and associated needs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience and empathy
  • A flexible and professional approach
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships
