SEN Behaviour & Complex Needs Support Assistant – Full Time (BL9)

Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint a full-time SEN Behaviour & Complex Needs Support Assistant, starting in September, on behalf of a warm and inclusive primary school in the BL9 area. This  school is known for creating a safe, supportive environment where every child is understood, valued, and encouraged to thrive.

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm

About the Role:

You will support a child with complex needs, which may include:

• Behavioural challenges
• Communication difficulties
• Non-verbal communication (using Speech & Language–informed strategies)
• Social and emotional development needs

Your role may involve 1:1 support or small group work to:

• Help children access the curriculum
• Implement positive behaviour support strategies
• Support communication through visuals, gestures, or alternative communication methods
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists such as Speech and Language Therapists

About You:

You’ll be a great fit if you are:

• Experienced working with children or young people with additional needs, whether in schools, residential care, support work, or youth work
• Calm, patient, and confident supporting emotional and behavioural regulation
• Comfortable supporting pupils who may be non-verbal
• Able to adapt activities to meet individual learning needs
• Skilled in building strong, supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
• Reliable, proactive, and committed to helping every child succeed

School-based experience is welcomed, but transferable experience is highly valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
