Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in the classroom?
We are looking for a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming school in Horley. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced LSA or Teaching Assistant, as well as candidates looking to develop their career in SEN education.
As an SEN LSA, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop greater independence.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
Supporting children with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and SEMH needs
Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities
Supporting pupils with communication, social and emotional development
Following individual education and support plans
Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
The ideal candidate will be:
Patient, compassionate and nurturing
Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
Confident building positive relationships with pupils
Calm and consistent when managing challenging situations
Reliable, proactive and adaptable
A strong communicator and team player
Previous SEN experience is desirable but not essential. Experience in education, childcare, care, youth work or support work would be beneficial.
