This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in SEN education, ideal for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, or similar fields.

About the Role

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across a range of ages (typically Primary and Secondary: 5–16 years) with additional needs, including:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• ADHD and behavioural challenges
• Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support and assist in small group interventions
• Support pupils with academic tasks, emotional regulation, and social development
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
• Help implement EHCP targets and individual support plans
• Use positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
• Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom environment

Requirements

• A relevant degree (or working towards), such as:
• Psychology
• Education Studies
• Childhood Studies
• Criminology
• Sociology
• Health & Social Care
• A passionate, empathetic, and proactive attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Resilience, patience, and a genuine desire to support young people
• Any previous experience working with children, SEN, or in care/support settings is highly desirable
