The Opportunity - SEN Class Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Class Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Ware. This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils within a structured, nurturing environment, including those with complex needs such as SEMH, PMLD, and SLD.

You'll play a key role in the education and training sector, helping pupils build trust, develop communication and self-regulation skills, and re-engage positively with learning.

As a SEN Class Teacher You'll Be Doing:

  • Deliver tailored, nurture-based lessons to small groups.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs alongside PMLD and SLD requirements
  • Adapt teaching to meet a range of sensory, physical, and communication needs
  • Use alternative communication approaches (e.g. PECS, Makaton, AAC) where appropriate
  • Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Plan personalised learning in line with EHCP outcomes
  • Work closely with SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
  • Create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment

What We're Looking For

  • QTS or QTLS (desirable) or strong SEN/SEMH experience
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and/or complex needs (PMLD, SLD)
  • Confidence adapting teaching for diverse learning and communication needs
  • A calm, consistent, and resilient approach
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and ongoing development
  • Ability to commute to Ware
