Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils within a specialist primary setting in Great Yarmouth.

This is an incredibly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve small but significant successes. However, it is important to understand that some pupils have faced considerable challenges in their education and personal lives and may present with behaviours that can be difficult at times.

We're looking for individuals who can remain calm, patient, and consistent, building trusting relationships with children who need extra support to engage positively with school life.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils both in and out of the classroom
  • Help children regulate their emotions and engage with learning
  • Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult role model
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and personal development
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide a safe and supportive environment
  • Celebrate progress, no matter how big or small

This role would suit someone who is:

  • Patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure
  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
  • Confident managing challenging situations in a professional manner
  • Able to build strong relationships with pupils who may struggle to trust others
  • Looking for a meaningful role where they can have a genuine impact

Experience in education, care, youth work, support work, mental health services, or similar settings would be beneficial but is not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
